The Classroom Reset Day 2
Dec 31, 2025Missed Day 1 of the Classroom Reset? Check it out here!
It's Day Two Boo!!!
Whip out those lists and a notebook (or your notes app) baybeeeeeeee!!!!!
List 1: Look for through lines in what's working. Is it your systems? Is it that your students trust you? Brainstorm how you can lean into what's working to address what's not. Do you see any connections between list 1 and list 2? Those will be your leverage points!
List 2: Which one (or two if you must) is the MOST important to you? Not to your admin. Not to the district. Not for data purposes. To you the teacher that has to exist in that classroom each day. Of your list, which one thing would immediately make you feel 5-10% less annoyed on a day to day basis AND you're willing to commit to fixing.
Keep up with your brainstorming. We're going to work with it more tomorrow!!
What's the Point???
The purpose of list 1 is to give you a foundation on which you already feel secure (and one your students already know and understand). It's also a reminder that you're not actually the worst teacher on the planet despite what your brain tries to make you believe. Reflecting on what you do well as a teacher supports your self-confidence.
For list 2, I want you to pick ONLY ONE in order to keep it manageable. And I encourage you to base it on your needs not the districts because lowering your stress levels will greatly increase your capacity to meet whatever goals your admin/district are setting. The needs of the humans in the room must come first.
Tomorrow, we'll talk about what to do with these lists to make your classroom feel more manageable and joyful in the spring.
